Endless light banishes shades
Of the failed, the never mades
Greys beneath the New York sky
Times Square passes them all by
Somewhere in the corner cove
Stands a man, the root of love
Homeless as he's ever been
Staring up at neon screens

Before he was but now he's not
A child born in and then forgot
Made his money, paid his dues
Most he won but now he lose
Simple loss of job, then home
Wife became another's one
Children are another tome
Now he stands here all alone

Times square the root of one is one
No matter how the sum is done....
He equals more than me and you
If our class don't make it through

Happy `till the bubble burst
Thinking illness was the worst
Thinking that he'd made the grade
`Till the bankers escapade
Suddenly the money fled
Left his market in the red
Bankers laughed as he fell down
They the flood, he the drowned
Floating on their MBA's
Paid by daddy yesterday
Party `till the sun goes down
Music drowning out the sound

Times square the root of one is one
No matter how the sum is done...
We divide, they multiply
Raping us with lullabies

Still he stands by yesterday
Yes today's now gone away
But the past is here and now
Flashes of the when and how
Comfort found in ages deep
Child within that once asleep
Now awoken, smells the air
Thanks the Lord that He is there.
